Jed Grieve is covering route 4-5, a stretch along Vancouver Island that roughly goes from Ladysmith to Nanaimo. Jed is a long-time runner, having been running for 25 years since his wife got him into it. In this run, he is supporting the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness and generally wishes that we could make a lighter impact on our planet.
Kicking off the mainland marathons will be Ronen Shayovitz, who is covering route 5-6! He'll be running the full marathon which goes right through downtown Vancouver and ends on the top of Burnaby Mountain. He's looking forward to spending some of the run on the Great Trail and crossing the Lions' Gate bridge into Stanley Park. Ronen hasn't run a marathon in years, but running has been a nice escape for him during the pandemic.
Ramona Toth is taking on route 6-7, just east of downtown Vancouver. Ramona hasn't always identified as a runner, and started running by by tackling 2 minute intervals at her kids' school. But it wasn't long before she fell in love with the sport: in Ramona's words, she "hit the trail and never looked back"! Since then, she has run an incredible 16 half-marathons and 2 full marathons. She loves running with her group of cool mamas who support each other, and is appreciative of the love that running has brought into her life.
